I must be doing something wrong!

Go Fast Turn Left
I have had a dead draw on my 85 F-350 7.5L for awhile now. I have not been able to locate it. Tried a test light and pulling the fuses, no help. Tried a multi meter, but I'm not sure if I'm using it correctly. The other electrical problem I am having is occasionally when I try to start it, it just cranks, and when I let off the key I can hear it try to fire. I can do this until the battery is dead, but if I leave the key in the run position and jump the solenoid it will start right up. I have put a new ignition switch in it. As far as draws on the battery, the radio is on a toggle and the memory is not hooked up. I have a trailer brake as well, but it is also currently unplugged. If I don't start it, the battery will be dead in about 2 days. Any help you guys could give me would be helpful.

The ignition switches on these years trucks seemed to completely wear out prematurely.

I would be looking at the switch for the reason of your issues.

Try disconnecting the wiring to the alternator before doing the testing
