Got lucky and had this fall in my lap (didn't pay asking):

http://www.fullsizebronco.com/forum/showthread.php?t=214772

Been needing a brake overhaul in the Bronco for a while...it's damn near like driving with manual brakes. I was going to go with the 350 upgrade, but if I'm gonna go, may as well go all in right??? So I'm gonna go with the hydroboost and probably do the hardware upgrades from the 350 upgrade.

I post this just to see if anyone is interested what this upgrade is about and maybe do a little tech write up on. It won't be all inclusive because I'm not having to do any of the before hand figuring, and this is kitted up about as nicely as it can get. So for those interested, just put up a yay or nay and I'll be sure to take pics.

I know there's a problem with the brakes on the dents but , where is it. ?
Is the stiff brake problem in the MC and booster or in the proportioning valve, lines, or calipers and drums.
Just curious to see if the hydroboost conversion also requires all new lines and pv.
Take lots of notes and pictures.

I thought about the 350 upgrade but my brakes are OK.

Mark...here's my take. In stock form, the brakes are adequate...not the best, but they'll do just fine. You know most folks with these trucks add the lift and tires and soon enough, stock ain't good enough. If you ever look at a stock booster and hydro...the hydro is about 3 times larger. Then guys smarter than me have done up some equations to show the difference in braking pressure and fluid flow, and there is no downside to the hydro.

I know those examples are rather elementary and lack detail...but bottom line for me was, I could go with the 79 upgrade and spend $180ish...or pick this up for for an extra $100. I'm with you, I never thought the brakes were 'bad' just adjusted my driving.

.

I'm a little confused on this one. The hydro is supposed to eliminate the vacuum booster.

I know where your coming from. I've read several write ups and the hydro sounds like a good upgrade. I'd even think about it if I had a truck that wasn't unmolested. ( I'd like to do the head light upgrade too but haven't) In most , they put a larger pump in to handle the extra fluid. And to reduce some of the pump noise.

Are you going to do the Bronco or Red, or both ?

^^^my bad I was talking 2 different things in 1 thought. What I said was referring to a more modern dual diaphragm booster. The hydro does eliminate the booster.

And this is gonna be in the Bronco. Plans before the first snow are new TSL's, 3g, hydroboost and whiter brights (headlight upgrade). I also wanna knock out fuel injection, insulation and steering upgrades too..but there won't be enough time for both.
