How many do you get?

Compliments that is. I used to ask guys about thier rigs before I got one that was woth asking about. I love my truck and talking about it, but to be always asked in the parking lots kinda gets boring to have to repeat yourself. I like the fact that people enjoy the truck and how it brings them back to when thier father had one or it was thier first truck. I like the guys that know about the truck and sometimes I learn something, but as soon as they say they had one with a 400m I'm just nodding my head and answering questions and saying thank you as they leave. While I was at work today someone left a note on my windshield saying "This is the perfect truck-Thank you" Thats as good of a compliment as one could hope for and all I could think is where can I get a 4X4 frame and a high pinion Dana 60 for this truck to make it perfect. If I had something to do with the way the truck looks I'd be more understanding of guys wanting to talk about it. All I did was buy it and try to keep it as shiny as possible.

All kidding aside, the short time I had the 79 on the road, it drew a good amount of compliments.

You ok?...kidding aside...that ain't your style..:)
but while the kidding is aside... I get alot of people who think my 78 bronco is from the 90's and they are baffled to hear that it is a 78 and still looks that clean ...now for some of the work dents that I have most are amazed that they are still running as well as they do, this last snow storms we had up here in Nj my 78 f150 was one of the few plow trucks runnin' non stop and helping the cheby and dudge guys out...and I must admit there was a broken newer ford amongst them

I got lots of comments on my 76 highboy...not on looks as it was 3 different colors, but on the built 429 thunderjet haha

My dad gets complements all the time, even the odd note behind the wipers, ha ha....

Us builders always see the flaws in our work, but when people complement the truck, you feel so much better about it, ha ha.

I get a lot of compliments on its looks. The technical comments and compliments come from a few Ford Enthusiasts that ask me details such as the C6, 3rd member brakes, motor info, etc. I was in a parade, pulling a float for my sister-in-laws private school, and the police officer on a bicycle came up to me (in the middle of the parade while I was driving) and asked me engine specs and such as he owned a 78 dent that he restored.

The thing I hate the most and where I get most of my comments, is, "I bet you spent a **it load of money on that thing!" I hate this! :headbang: I guess it's their way of justifying why they don't have one or haven't done a complete resto like it because I "wasted" my money. I guess. [confused] I don't know. The funny thing is, I actually spent 1/2 to sometimes 1/3 of what a 2005-2010 truck would cost right now and that's what they're driving.

Not gonna lie, the compliments make me feel great and they never get old...even if I need to repeat myself a million times. I look at that as an opportunity to help create another enthusiast. Although...when guys start telling me about my rigs and they obviously have no clue what they're talking about, I usually try to end those conversations pretty quick. Flip side, it always makes me cringe when someone starts checking out an area that I consider blemished. To me, by far, the biggest ego boosts come when you're constantly asked to be a parade truck and then all the comments you hear from the crowd as you're cruising along.

I think the best compliment I ever got was when I was cruising through the middle of town a day or so before Memorial Day a few years back and I saw the blue lights light up behind me. I had thought I was speeding, but the officer simply came up to the window and asked if I was going to fly my flags because all the guys love seeing such a beautiful truck honoring those that have served and those that have fallen. So I told him I was, he told me that's all he was wondering and to have a nice day.

I'll get a comment every now and then, but my truck is so tore up that I just get a total ego boost.

I get quite a few around here.

My favorite is popping the hood to expose the 300. It lopes pretty good when its cold and most swear its a V8 making that sound.

I'm pretty sure it got me out of a ticket once too. It was right after it had been painted, I was going a good 15 over and a cop pulled me over around 4am (just getting off work) and we spent a good 20 minutes talking about dentsides (he had a few himself) and then he told me to slow it down and let me go with a warning.
