How do you remove the windshield chrome?

I really hate clipped-on stuff! :/
So how do -you- get the clips to let go of the chrome covers around the
windshield? :)

The Ford Shop Manual, as usual, is skimpy on the details of those clips.
Interior covers and stuff like this where it's clipped-on at the factory with
-hidden- clips, is the one thing I have trouble with. :/

Bolts I understand. LOL :)

Theres a tool that kind of reminds you of a flattened out arrowhead that slips under the chrome and releases the clips. You "rock" the tool to release the clip.

Try to do it without right tools and get cracked windshield. Luckily a local guy works for a glass shop . $5 bucks and its off.

Thanks for the effort Black 'n' Lost. :)

The trick I come up with was to use a thin putty knife to find the -center-
of the clip, then using a cotter pin puller to pry the clip up using the putty
knife to protect the windshield. Center of the clip! ;)

Ford used two different types of clips on the windshield, who in their right
mind would expect Ford to use only one type of clip all the way around? :/
Huh? ;)

A plastic type along the bottom and a metal type on the sides and top.
The method I fiNgured out worked great for both types.

...do I get to take $5 off the cost of the parts truck now? ;)

Ok. :)

Now that I got the chrome off the Bronco and the chrome is still in good
shape, BTW. Is there a black (rubber?) "chrome delete" product I can get,
so I don't have to put the chrome back on? LOL :)
