In general I am looking for a shop manual for my 73 F100

For now it would help if anyone could tell me what the feller gauge setting and timing is for a 1973 f100 pick up with a 360 engine?

There are old shop manuals available on e-bay. If you're just after a "working" copy, they can be had relatively cheap.

I am assuming that a feller gauge is one used to determine point gap. If so, the point gap on most ford V8 engines with single points was .017.

The timing would be set at 6° BTDC.

That's the factory setting and it's a good idea to try it there first.

You got a temperature gauge on that truck?

What a bunch of us experienced is the temperature rising while idling.
Bumping up the idle ignition timing a little would stop that business.

Anywhere from 8 to 12 degrees is used. I think I'm running 10*BTDC.

Homie, what carburetor you got on that 360FE?

I used to over heat a jeep with a 350 ci when I was running in the sand in hatteras. Then it would start pinging. It would clear up after I was on the road for a few.
I always thought if I could adjust the timing while mobile, I could solve the over heating and pinging.

What I meant by "us" is "us 360FE guys".

I'm not sure if the 352FE or 390FE do the same or not, but seems like it. ??

Alvin in AZ is used to FSB where they -never- turn your edit button off.
