Holy Power Assist batman...

Just got off the phone with RedHead to have Red's original power valve and power cylinder rebuilt. $346 for the valve and $356 for the cylinder, plus a core charge of $150 each. Last time I had a system rebuilt out there (not that long ago) I was in and done for under $500 (excluding core charges). Guess it's time to bite the bullet. Just stings, I know the rebuild kits are like $50 for the whole system...I guess it pays to have the knowledge to rebuild them. In the long run it'll be better than stock and if it's not, I'll have someone to blame.

That is almost as much as benchworks bolt on integral kit. But I like staying original...the system handles 38's no problem and it puts zero stress on the frame.

That is expensive, but I really do think you'll be happy when you do get it rebuilt. Power Assist systems work great when working properly. I think they are the next best thing to a full hydraulic setup like implement's use. Over time, they just are more prone to leaking and what not. But, when you think about it, a nicely rebuilt system should last a very long time.

It hurts the wallet though. I haven't even broke it open for a steering box for my 77 yet.
