don't know about rpm's should be at 800-1000 but years ago I had a 84' and it was doing the same thing found that the factory ground strap had to many ohm's and was braking down so I replaced it will a new one and all problems went away so I all so replaced all the others one truck as to not bit me in the *** and that is what I have done to all the trucks I've had since the factory one will not last long if it moves around and gets dirt and salt on it a good ground is what need to work as they should
well my rpm's drop to 2200 rpm's on start up last nite so itll be 1900 true now, but yeah my factory ground strap might be dirty, i mudded,snow'd it hard last year so.... i got check that too
