help please

i have a 1993 f150 xl. 5.0 automatic trans. my problem is every time it rains or gets a little damp outside, my trucks engine will flood out for some reason. i sealed the distributer cap and it didnt help. it starts fine on sunny warm days or days below freezing. only on damp or rainy days. any ideas? i need help.

Yeah are you sure it's flooding? Flooding would imply too much fuel and it woudlnt be very likely for damp weather to do that. What are the symptoms?
 
a co-worker had the same issue. i think he messed with the distributor, plugs, wires, etc and i thought his ended up being a sensor
 
Have you replaced the coil yet?

Coil is a good place to start. I had similar problems with my 95 351W and a coil/wires/plugs brought it back.
 
ok, its flooding out because you can VERY plainly smell fuel when cranking. way more than is normal. sometimes holding the accelerator to the floor helps and sometimes not. i can place a hair dryer on the base of the efi for a few minutes and the engine will fire right up. normally the engine only cranks 3-4 time and it starts. starts very easily.when its dry. i have been a motorhead for yrs. i know when an engine floods, and it is flooding for whatever reason. just dont know why.

It is rare any more, but, some distributor caps would actually get a fungus growing inside of them. You can't readily see it, but anytime it was high humidity, there would be a shortage of spark. Just the fact that things are working right when you put the hair dryer on it tells me you've got electronic components breaking down. Might be time for a cap, rotor and wires. Make sure you use dielectric compound.

make sure the wires going into your coil plug are good too. I had an 88 that had a hard time because the connectors inside the plug were backing out.
