Help me please....

i have just pulled motor out of my 95 4x4 E4OD 300 4.9 and going to drop in a 4.9 six from 1988 can someone please tell me if this going to work for me? the guy who's sold me the motor from 88 said that all i have to do is plug in all my old harness and ecu, except i have to change the distributor. is he right? thank you for your advises and anwers.

THey didn't change much . But does your truck have the large round sensor on air box (MAF) . I would swap harnesses to be sure . I know on 5.0 not much from 87-94 (and non MAf trucks )

Use your 95 harness and distributor on the 88 engine. 92 up used a single square plug for the engine harness while 87? or 88-91 used four round plugs.

The 88 engine will also have it`s TFI module mounted on the distributor, the 95 has it on the fender. Good luck!
