Welcome to the site! :wavey: I'm gonna go ahead and move your thread to the "Personal Announcements & Introductions" section :)

Not sure about the VIN. The decoder that I generally use is only for 1982 and newer. I'm sure someone will come buy and help you out :)

That VIN keeps coming up as a 71
The only thing I could pull was it has a 330 engine and was made in Kentucky.

Welcome!

I keep getting the same thing that TexasNomad does. 71, 330 engine, and made in Ky.

Can you double check and see if you might have typed a number in correctly or something?

Did you get the number off the title /bill of sale or off the truck itself (cab or frame?)?

Your Model Year is February 1971.

Truck Series: Unknown, Please double check VIN number

Engine: 8cyl - 330cid

Assembly on: Kentucky Truck

I owned a '72 F600 new. It had a 330 with a New Process 4 speed hooked to a 15,500 Eaton 2 speed rear end. Up front it had a 6,000 axle. When the 330 got tired, I replaced it with a complete crate 391. I then put a 5000 series Spicer 5 speed and a 22,000 Eaton rear. I also put a 9000 front axle under it. When I did all of that, I put F800 badges on it for a nice touch.

BTW, welcome to FTF...

Welcome to FTF!!! stick around and see who to make fun of! LOL

Thanks alot for the input. I double checked the VIN, and it is correct. As far as where the info came from, it was on the data plate. This truck was resting in the snow bank for the last 20 years or so, and the owner has no idea where the title or reg is for it. Also, no plates.

Hmm...

Sounds odd. I would imagine the plate was changed at some point in time (or maybe the whole cab was swapped over). Might make it difficult to get a title (depending on where you live). If you are interested in this truck...you will probably have to find the VIN on the frame and go through the proper procedures to get one.

Each state has procedures to go through. You would need to check with your local office on what those procedures actually are for your state.

Did the current "owner" ever actually have it titled in his name? If so...it would be a lot easier (and cheaper) for him to apply for a lost title. Then sign that over to you. Going through the state takes time and is rather expensive in some states.

Do you have a picture of the cab? The 67-72 were bumpsides. The 73 was the first year for the dentsides. The cabs should be different (I would think). Ford did some odd things with the bigger trucks though.
