heater core fan cover

Hello,

Can anyone tell me if I am missing a diffuser or cover for my air recirculation intake. I see no mounting holes or signs of anything missing but it is extremely loud with the fan on high. THe AC uses inside air with the flap open.
I see nothing listed on LMC. My old 77 when i was a teen did not have AC so maybe it always used outside air?

I don't think you're missing anything. Mine looks the same way. For information about the HVAC system in these trucks, below is a link to that section of the '78 service manual. The only time that flap will open is when the temp control knob is all the way to the left on COOL.
