Well i got the drivers side lightning header on... (Square ports) To save the argument. The passengers side looks pretty damn fun thats for sure.... Well i had a busy busy day and i only had enough time to do the drivers. Looks good, those MR gasket copper gaskets are amazing. They look good in the engine compartment as well. I got through the whole drivers side without breaking any bolts. I dont think im gonna get so lucky with the passengers lol.

Anyone got any secrets? Im thinking about seeing if i can take the inner fender out tomorrow, or some of that Smog crap on the side of the motor. Anyone have an easyier way? :headbang: Thanks all. Il get some pics and a vid tomorrow.

PB Baster, and if you do take that innner fender out it does make it easier. Remove all of the smog while your at it. Throw it away like I did.

OK i need help like QUICK. I took the inner somewhat out... And i got the rest of the bolts with the air wrench, and if you look at the very front of the header you will see that your EGR (I think) metal tube goes to the front of your manifold and enters there. What do i do with that? Bend it? And chris by smog crap what can and cant i remove? Id love to get rid of as much of that BS that i can. Got a pic of what your truck looks like in the engine compartment? Thanks man

The EGR tube should have a fitting at the manifold that can be unscrewed. If not, I know theres a fitting up near the EGR valve that you can unscrew.

Ouch...I didn't have to remove my inner fender...uhh when you do it...I'd hooke the header up to the y-pipe first...leaving it a little loose of course........might also have some trouble on that side aligning the bolt holes...Definately PB blaster.....If I think of anythin else......

Ugh here are some pics of what I removed. Do you have the thermactor tubes in the back of the heads. My truck didnt have that.

Just undo all the lines. I left the EGR on with part of the tube and plugged the end of it. So it oppens and closes just doesnt do anything. Air pump is just an idle pulley now. No lines going to it.

Yea I took all that out also. I dont keep a spair in the truck. I keep a plug kit, hope I catch the nail or whatever before I lose all the air.

I only used some of the vac lines. The fuel pressure, the map, the the egr, and the feed for the heat

Hey man thanks for the help. I got the headers on... Bolted one side of my Y pipe on, other side i gotta find a different nut or get the impact on there and run it in. Tighten my lug nuts on my passengers side tire, bolt the inner in the rest of the way, look things over a bit and take it for a test drive.

Very loud with open headers lol, sounded ok with what i had 3 of the 4 bolts on the y pipe hooked up. Cant wait to get the rest of it done. Getting up early before work to finish it up. :)

Well, i got em installed. Y pipe hooked back up. And i notice!!!........... Nothing different at all.... I do have a tinny exhaust leak and i think i know where its coming from, so il let you know when i find out.

Exhaust leak was from one of the bolts that i rounded off, then i used these things you hit on with a hammer and use and impact to get em out, well that broke, and i desided to use that as a stud. Well it doesnt work. I only have one little bolt holding my inner on so il just take all that back apart and use those things you hit on again to see if i can get that stud out of there.

They definatly look alot better than the manifolds. I doubt i woulda noticed a difference anyways with my no cat and single 40 series muffler. Next to toning out the exhaust leak while taking off, i do notice its a bit more throatier and less tingy like it was before.

I believe those 'things you hit on' are called impact drivers, lol. It's just a manual version of what you hook up to an air compressor. I've got one too, they work great :)
