I just got done with a lightning conversion. And I mean JUST. I have yet to get it to dyno but for the money I am hoping for a little gain. I was averaging 9-10 with the truck before so we shall see. There have been some ?'s about the electric chargers on other sites i visit but noone has tried them out yet.
Just remember all electric devices pull power from the alternator, and the alternator being loaded down does increase it's drag on the engine, thus robbing the engine of some power.
A simple demonstration of this is to hit all the "up" buttons for the windows while the truck is idling.
I've never seen an electric supercharger, but I have a hard time believing you can push enough air into the engine to make a noticeable difference without having a HUGE electric motor, bigger than an altornator can run. I would say there's a reason they are not very popular. I would be interested in hearing some real world results, though.
