Dunno where I got that info from, but I thought I picked that up from Bill...but I didn't mean that you couldn't get the wing window locks before 78, I just meant that after 77 every wing window had locks. Maybe Dennis can set me/us straight.
My '75 F150 is a rather stripped down model since
the -only- "package" I ordered was "factory air".
It doesn't have the locking buttons on either the
glove box or the vent windows. Seems to me, that
stuff came with certain packages? Wasn't interested
in that stuff anyway since I didn't plan to ever lock
it up anyway! LOL YMMV
They've tried to steel it twice but the hidden switch
stopped them. One time they stole my ash tray tho. :/
But two cars next to mine had broken windows and
one... a terrible mess was made of the trunk before
they got it open. Turned out she worked for a bail
bondsman and there were guns in the truck. They
didn't catch 'im of course but did fill out lots of cool
papers about it all tho. LOL
There's more money in unsolved-crime for the police
department than there is in solved-crimes.

You are only locking -yourself- out because you are
the only one not will to #$%k-it-up to get in! :/
Silly.
Kinda like the rule about not locking a convertible,
just one step past that, see it now?
Is it too late for you to shuck off your brain washing?
My young brother-in-law watched as the locksmith
hammered and chiseled and drilled away at a door
knob on a trailer house one day while the woman
watched 'im and asked his dad (had been a locksmith)
"why didn't he just pick the lock in a few seconds,
heck even I could have done that! :/"
"he put on a show for her to make her feel safe and
didn't hurt when it was time to present the bill " -John
Do we need to go into "airline security" next? LOL
I'm right there with you Alvin. The only thing I lock is the house at night after everyone is in. Beyond that, I figure it will cheaper to replace what was taken than replacing what was taken plus any and all damage. But there is a fine line though, there are areas that leaving a vehicle unlocked is basically an invite to take whatever they please...usually, I only pass through those areas though.

ps- Looking at that picture reminds me they stole my friggin
watch with a chopped-down wrist band each time tho. :/
pps- but since getting rid of that GF (her apartment! see?)
I've had no more trouble.
Ok, now you have me wondering about this windwing window lock thing. I have to now do my research to find out why mine has them and my 74 had them.

Yeah, my father-in-law's '74 (Super?) Camper Special had a locking
glove box but don't remember the vent windows good enough. :/
Pretty dangged sure he had a separate (oval headed) key for the
doors and that silly-locking-glove-box-thing too. YMMV?
His wife had a Cougar and he cut the keys so you could flip it over
and it'd work in the other vehicle.
Anyone else here do that already?
-------------------------------
I opted for re-pinning another lock cylinder to make mine work like
that, since I only need to carry one door key and made my old '75
key work both vehicles.
I've learned to open my vent wing in about 3 seconds with the dipstick. Locks only keep the stupid thiefs (and me, for 3 seconds) out. Imma have to wire up a kill switch somehow.
Turns out to prob'ly be the best thing I ever did to my '75?
...since I've still got it and might not still have it otherwise?

ps- Ben, I haven't shaved with the dangged thing but a horse,
a mule, a bear, 2 deer, 2 goats, 3 lions, a bunch of cows, hogs,
javelinas, coyotes and bobcats have had a "close shave" with
it tho.
