Good day at the salvage yard

They crush these rigs (73-79) here about every 4 months so i try to keep up on any new rigs that come in, today i got a set of west coast mirrors (slightly rusty, glass is intact, but nothing that can't be cleaned) a set of 73-75 grille inserts, argent grey, no cracks and pretty clean, plus two tail light housings that were in cherry condition, i took it all up to the front desk and the guy looked it over and said 60 bucks, i countered with 40 bucks, we settled on 50 bucks, i think i did pretty good, i don't even need this stuff but i just hate to see it crushed for no good reason.

Good save man. Pretty cool your place lets you negotiate in price...around here, it's take it or leave it. It's getting harder and harder to find dents in the junkyard. The people who were gonna get rid of them, did, when scrap prices were high. And even at that, they are few and far between because alot of them are still on the road.

Greta catch. I love those west coast mirrors. The ones on my truck are of a 67 one ton. Cleaned them up and put new glass in them.

Any yard around here will no longer get anything older than 10 years (andthats pushing it ) Other than few that do mostly scrap stuff.

My fav yard is crushing out all the 96 down stuff end month. Id I had money I'd go buy door panels and dash pads . Ow well

At least u did well.

I'm with ya on that, i love the west coast mirrors on these old dentsides, i wish i could save more parts but money and space put their limits on what i can save.

If I redo the 77, those inserts would come in handy... no cash right now though...
