Gas tank to filler pipe hose

I would be concerned using just any old hose for fuel, though. On my bronco, the front tank has some small (3/16 or so) vents that I thought I would just put some vacuum caps on, and about every 3-4 months when I'm filling up, the caps have rotted so bad that fuel starts running out on the ground. I'm so lazy that I just keep some extra in the glove box, and never remember to fix it right until next time it happens. Fairly minor with small vents, not to cool when gas is running down behind the seat!

True... That would kinda suck riding down the road then smelling some serious gasoline fumes....

cough cough...then always make sure your outlet from the fuel pump is ALWAYS routed in a way that it won't come in contact with your P/S belt...cough cough.

DC part# 78-9047.

Does anyone know if regular hose the same size and thickness could be used instead of purchasing this part?
DC is using the ancient, long replaced part number of 78-9047 instead of the correct part number of C1TB-9047-A .. In Cab Fuel Tank Fuel Filler Hose.

Fits: 1961/66 F100/1100 / 1967/72 F100/750 / 1973/77 F100/880.

All rubber fuel hoses are actually made from neoprene rubber. You should not use anything (like radiator hose which is not neoprene) other than neoprene..as gasoline will eat it up.

DC shows 78-9047 in their latest catalog @ $10.00.

btw: C1TB9047A is obsolete, but there are dozens still available from FoMoCo Dealers, obsolete parts vendors. Would'ja rather have a genuine Ford hose?

The last MSRP was $23.82 // Dealer net COST was $14.29.

 DC's 10 buck price looks a hell of a lot better now, doncha think?

You think you bought a truck, but what you really bought was a hobby. Hobbies tend to be expensive.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but if you don't want to spend 10 bucks for the correct hose, you're in the wrong hobby.

Just wait till you need something that is not reproduced...you are then at the mercy of whoever has the part...be prepared to either step up...or step back.

I've owned 327 vehicles since 1956, and have spent well over 500 GRAND in this hobby.

I own one old rolling pile of miseries today...a 1934 Packard 1108 V12 Dietrich Convertible Victoria, one of three known to exist.

I bought it in the 1970's for $7200.00. Today, even in our rotten economy, I could easily get $1,000,000.00 for it.

I you ever remove the tank take the time to remove the filler and do the body work to patch the hole instead Of just leaving the cap there, here is why.
I removed the behind the seat tank on my one truck. I don't feel they are safe. Anyway the wife took the truck one day and decides to fill it up. you guessed it she filled the removed gas tank.

A guy ay another pump noticed has running out the passenger door and yelled at her that the truck was leaking gas..
what a mess to clean up. carpet and pad seat etc had to be pulled up and cleaned.
Did you know gas dissolves cassette tapes in a tape box that holds about 50 tapes.

Ok, so 78-9047 from DC would be the way to go then. Don't mind spending the money, but am definitely on a limited budget, so I have to spread the spending out a little. My wife is a first grade teacher, but has been a stay at home mom since our first was born 3 1/2 years ago. As a result, I am the only bread winner, so our budget is tight. But, you know, I wouldn't have it any other way. I much prefer going to work each day knowing that both my boys are getting 100% attention and are learning a lot of academic things to be prepared for today's rigorous curriculum for students. I know most people have to put their children in day care, but I worry about our children in day care and what they are learning and, more importantly, not learning. I applaud my wife and appreciate her for all that she has sacrificed to make sure our boys are taken care of.

How long did it take to get the smell of gas out of the truck?

About 2 days replaced everything inside the cab more or less.
Glad to hear you have your priorities right family first over dollars. I passed up mega buck jobs so I could be home and not flying all over the country fixing other peoples messes and only being home 4-5 days a month.

Have a guy on another ford site that is offering this line (Grant brand) for $11 plus $5 shipping... Will probably get it, but there is someone else offering a new tube for $5 plus shipping... Since I'm a few weeks away from even considering removing the tank will see if I can get the $5 guy to respond to my inquiries...
