Frame Swap

Sorry for not posting a intro first but I had a question that I need a quick answer for. And I'm hoping you fellas have the information. I'm looking into swapping my 92 frame out for a 86 4x4 frame. Now my question is what kind of issues could I run into if I do this.

You're definitely gonna run into problems mounting up a front bumper as the 80-86 front frame horns are alot different then the 92-96 frame horns. If you're gonna use the 92 bumper, you're gonna have to make some brackets or just make a custom bumper. As far as the rest of it,I think you should be fine just as long as you get the same length frame as you have now(Single cab short bed frame for Single cab short bed frame and so on).

Reason? I guess u have a 4x2 and want a 4x4.

I know several people that just put the 4x4 swing arms on the 4x2 frame. Found right crossmember for what ever trans and xfer case they had . Floor panel and 4x4 shifter stuff. Allot easier than the body swap .

U will have the fuel system differences ,wiring , and the 8.8 rear to reinstall. Nothing big if have time. The speedo is fed off the 8.8 rear end its Electric. The only problem I see is u will need to find a ecu to match the transmission to run fuel injection.

As for the front bumper get front horns off ur truck frame and weld on the older 1.

Anyway allot good guys here to help u .
