Okay, so I know of one brand that had Ford exclusive over the cab campers. - American Road Campers.

Any other brands? I'm considering the idea of having a camper from the era for nostalgia's sake.

I'm thinking there are probably 3 possibly 4 people here that could help you out with that...Bill, Dennis, Scott and maybe Mark. If there's more didn't mean to offend. Either way, subscribed.

I knew that we had a handful of guys with some knowledge behind it... I think that vintage campers are just awesome. :D

Hey! Me too! Until a year or so ago I had a matching 11.6' Lance camper on Burt that I had restored completely, in and out.. (Now I've got a travel trailer, which I am going to sell..think I miss the camper!) I'm actually an RV nut also on top of being an old Ford truck nut...:)

As for the OP's questions. American was the only company that manufactured a cabover camper exclusively for Ford. Many of the others you could get with a matching paint scheme to the truck, but they were commercially available and not exclusive to Ford. Look for a Lance, Beaver, Dreamer, or Caveman. Or a cool Alaskan telescopic camper.. way cool!. Stay away from the old Sixpacks and Dolphins. PM me if you have specific questions on campers or trailers.

When it comes to campers one has to remember that numerous ford dealerships (at least in Canada) had RV's available on site for sale.

This means Ford Campers,Aftermarket or Camper Manufacturer Campers and Boats on their lot.
ie: The dealership I got my truck at sold VANGUARD Trailers and Campers
They also sold Sangster Boats

That's now a rare beast called a "Born Free", which is really sort of a misnomer! If you have THAT on your truck you can't be free! It was so heavy that they had to mfg. the tag axle for them so trucks could "carry" them. They are HUGE!
