Factory Exhaust Manifolds

I have a idea. I have been thinking about taking my exhaust manifolds and buying what I need and smoothing the insides out nice and smooth. I know they won't flow as good as headers but will it be good enough to see some improvement?

I've heard of people doing this but in all honestly I don't think you will see any gains Cliff.

Ah.... I gotcha!
I'd say other then giving them some paint don't waste your time on them cliff..
Just keep a eye out for some used headers on Craigs or Ebay.

I have been looking on both. I remember seeing Stacy on Gearz doing that6 and he said it helped a lot in the breathing dept. I think I will look for that show and watch it again.

Personally I would try it especially if you do not want to go with headers. It can't hurt anything if you match it to the gasket. I have headers and I'm going back to manifolds.

I figure if there is no casting bumps inside, nice and smooth all the flashing ground off and a gasket match it should breath well

Sounds good to me and cheaper than headers :)

I have no experience grinding them, but I have a tip for the paint.

Buy BBQ grill paint. It's cheaper and it stays better than any header or high temp paint on the market.
