I'd have to lay a tape to see if they relocated the perches, but the frame widths are different, the vans are wider.

Yea, Ive got to measure mine. I worked on a few 90's style, frame didnt seem any wider then mine. You think for cost effect, if they put the same rear in, they would just weld all mounts in the same spot lol.

I's only a few inches difference, not anything major, but just enough to ruin someone's day... I know the rear bumpers won't swap because of it. Welding the mounting pads on doesn't require much, so having a second jug isn't that big an issue. If the axle were totally different, that would be a different story. You would have to give me a few days, but I have a 79 van and the 78 truck, I can find out. I can also check on the 88 250 to compare, also have a 85 150... Don't know about the u-joints though if they are the same, would have to look that up.

way back in the 70's the center was offset to one side more then the truck axles. just because the perches are the same width check from perch to pinion from both sides also so as your drive shaft dont run at a stupid angle

Perches are set 4" wider, happened to be there and had a few minutes. (79 E150 compared to 85 F250 LD) 46" to 42" between the springs.

On the 92 F350, the whole driveline is about 4" off center to the passenger side. I discovered that when I did the Cummins conversion...
