EGR Vacuum Solenoid

First post! So, I've read nearly all the prior posts related to the emission control system for my stock 1986 F-150 with the 302 EFI; 138K original miles. The truck idles rough, shakes like crazy under load, etc. Have error codes 31 and 84. Tests of resistance/vacuum show EGR Value position senors is functioning, EGR Valve is functioning, vacuum system is working up to the EGR Vacuum solenoid, as detailed in my Haynes manual. However, with RPM above 2,000, no vacuum is ever present to the EGR valve. So, it would seem that the EGR vacuum solenoid is dead. If my thought process above is incorrect, please let me know.

My issue is that I have searched and searched for a replacement EGR vacuum solenoid with no luck. Ford Parts doesn't have it. Tried all kinds of online parts markets and nothing found. Advance, Autozone, and Napa indicate that the part has been discontinued. So, anyone have ideas where I could find one? Are there alternatives to the OEM part? My county and state do not require emissions for this truck. HELP! (Sorry for the length of this post!!)

Check your vacuum lines before buying anything, they are very brittle, and break just looking at them. You may also want to check the vacuum reserve can beside the battery, they have a tendency to rust out on the bottom

Oh, and welcome to FTF!!!!

Thanks Charlie! You are so right. The lines were extremely brittle. I replaced the vacuum lines and tested and retested the vacuum canister. It's solid with no rust and has zero drop in vacuum. Other vacuum lines from the canister draw appropriate vacuum as well.
