Egr Help

Ok I'm not a ford guy but I like the f-100's so I bought one on the cheap with two burnt exhaust valves. Picked up a set of sexy rebuilt 390 heads today so going to start pulling them tomorrow. I want to eliminate the EGR valve and or spacer under the carb (pretty sure that burnt the valves) what is the best way to do so? I know if you pull the spacer there is a port open to the exhaust. If the spacer is good can I make block offs for it or is there a better (easier) way? Is there a way to block off the heads without a bunch of machine work? An help, advice, experience and or pictures would be awesome.

Might be easiest to get an intake that has the passage blocked off...it's been some time since I've worked on one of those engines, but that's what I recall.
