I've had the '79 at 90 before, didn't act spooky or anything but barreling down the highway in 3 tons of barn door shaped steel with 35" mudders howling loud enough to loosen fillings will make you think about your life.

Hey,

tryn 2 get ed-u-cated.

400 is very gutless. I tow alot.

we have emissions checking stations here in Colorado. They are clueless, I think I can dummy-up my EGR junk, and sneak thru.:wasntme:

Thinking about the 2171 Edelbrock Intake, Cam n lifters, and 4V carb, the Jegs guys say I'll be running 300HP, but itsa non EGR kit

If you're not gonna have your emissions (which is what makes the 400 gutless) hooked up, you can go non-egr. Dunno how you'd pass a sniffer or if someone may actually know what they're looking at. But if you wanna do it, go for it...and that 300hp# might be pushing it a tad and is definitely NOT rwhp.

What exactly do they do to check emissions and when is the year cutoff? In the other county the year cutoff is 67 but most shops just pass em if theyre older than 80 or so by leanin out the carb for the test then puttin it back. Dont go to big company that checks ever little thing instead go to small family owned and operated shops and theyll usually be alot more leniant.
