driving v10 with blown sparkplug question

I have a 1997 e350 c class camper with a 6.8 liter v10. I have seen some comments on the web indicating that in the case of a blown sparkplug a couple of wires can be disconnected and the engine can be driven quite a long distance to a repair shop. Any comments regarding if it is correct that the v10 can be driven a long distance after blowing a sparkplug and exactly what needs to be done to make this happen would be appreciated.

Thanks.

this will be the 2 time that it been heli=coiled.
The machine shop said that on that model of heads werent too good
