Drive shaft length

Any magic numbers on what's too long or short when it comes to drive shafts?
I'm planning on installing a motor and trans behind the cab on my 52' coe and going by rough measurements, the tube section of the drive shaft will be about 12 inches in length with the input shaft and rear U-joint attached. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Frank your best bet is to talk to a driveline shop. I know the one I use in Sac will give me very explicit instructions on which measurements to take on my truck and they'll make a custom fitted driveshaft (or modify my existing one).

As long as you have enough slip to accommodate the suspension travel plus about 1/2" youre fine. 12" might be cutting it close if youve got much flex.

Jesse is a good guy. He has always took the time to help me out when Ive needed it. I inturn send business his way when people need driveshafts. Its a win win situation YelloThumbUp

the difference in price between the best stuff you can buy and the average crap "Joe Blow Driveshaft shop" sells usually isnt much and 99% of the time more of a hassle.

Thats a nice setup youve got there JR. Whats it on?
