Drip Drip

Well me truck is dripping from three spots. The power steering is leaking which has been since I got it, and now the tranny started and after haulin my trailer my rear diff started to leak:headbang: I think the tranny leak is coming from the filler tube. how is the filler tube secured into the tranny? If not the filler tube its time to change the seal. The rear diff is wet, and my trailer safety chains are covered in gear oil, but no drops from the diff today. I'm going to pop off the diff cover, silicone it and fill her back up. Alway something X2.

Well, all the tranny dipsticks that I have taken out were simply pushed in, shouldnt be too hard to pull it out. Should be able to finagle it around by turning it and getting it lose, then pull her out when shes loosened up. I'd pull it out and put silicone around the gasket/o ring or replace it and put silicone around it, that should solve the problem.

Make sure the fitting on the back of the pwr steering pump is tight, if not this may be why its leakin.

dnt be driving it too much untill you get differential problem fixed, if its pretty low on lube

Might want to check the vent tube on the rear differential. If the vent tube is plugged or pinched, then the pressure buildup in the diff will seek the easiest way out, such as seals, etc.

Yep, very true or if it was over filled, it will find its way out

Agree with these fellas...first thing to do is locate each leak. P/S issue could be from a hose, to the pump to the gear box. Shouldn't be terribly difficult to locate or fix. The trans, could be the dipstick, should be a seal/o-ring to prevent that though, or possibly the front seal, could be the gasket is too far gone, could be a leak from a faulty modulator...should be a vent tube to check for the trans as well. The rear end, axle seals, might need to be re siliconed, or the vent is clogged.

thanks for the info guys. I know where the leak is from the p/s, just want to trouble shoot the trans before I get deep into it. I didn't realize there where so many places to check on the tranny. I thought it would be either the dip stick or the seal. As for the rear, I was planning on changing the gear oil anyway. Never knew to check the vent hose. The truck pulled my 27 footer no problem. At one time I was doing 120kl. I didn't realize it until I looked at the speedo. I made sure to watch my speed after that. thanks again guys. This is what makes this site awesome.

You do know that checking the level of Trans fluid is ONLY when the engine is running...correct ?

3 weeks ago,I help my Friend suck about a gallon and half of fluid out of a trans because the owner checked and topped it up before the engine was started.

Fluid was everywhere.

lol, thats one thing I do know, thanks. I added some trans medic to see if it would help slow the leak until I found out the problem. Thats why I think its the dip stick, because some of the trans medic leaked onto the ground as I poured it in and wasn't mixed in with any tranny fluid.

I'd think so
