Well, I have to figure out what the heck I should do here... I have an offering that is hard to turn down. Friend is offering to work out something such that I take ownership of a 92 F250 4x4 extended cab, 7.3 diesel E4OD recently rebuilt. Problem is, I need another truck like a hole in the head... The big advantage is it is an extended cab, plus a limited slip rear...
So if I do take it, then I have to figure out what to do with the other two trucks of similar detail. The 88 is the gasser, which does poor on mileage but gets the job done. Floor is rusted, speedo hasn't worked in years, and while I know why it doesn't work, I just haven't felt like fixing it, as I have to take the drive shaft and tail housing off. It leaks a lot of oil valve covers on a 5.8 injected... not really worth selling, but would mostly just sit around if I keep it.
The other is my 86, 6.9 4 speed. While this used to be my workhorse, it has been sidelined for a while due to the injection pump it seems. I am still sorting out what is going on. Same friend had been using it when it went down, and it just hasn't been the same since. I don't really feel like dropping $600 on an injection pump, but it would definitely have everything I need to do the job, except 5th gear... However, I do have the parts to take care of that...
My intention was always to fix it back up. While waiting, the paint has pretty much flaked off and will need attention soon. The box is pretty much done, but so is the one on the 92. I do have boxes to swap for either, but they need work for cosmetic sake. Main issue is the lack of cab room. With my back as it is, I need to be able to recline a bit, and I can't do that with a standard cab. I do, actually, but my knees get close to the dash to do it. Fuel mileage was at best 12 MPG, which would improve of course if I swap in the 5 speed. What is sad is the clutch doesn't have that many miles on it... Again, I really can't sell it for much if I tried, but I prefer the body styling over the 92, but for these body trucks, the 92 is my second favorite. Both need work for cosmetics, the windshield on the 92 would have to be changed. I have them, just a matter of getting them cut out and cleaned up.
I also have the option of swapping on parts for the look, just a matter of the time. I didn't look at floor pans, but the cab corners are gone, and the fenders have rust as well. I have nothing for spare parts for the front of the 92...
Not entirely sure what way I should go here...
