Dealer installed Aux Fuel Tank/Door

I'm looking at a 76' F250 Highboy at the moment...

I'm still waiting for good pictures, but the truck has square shaped chrome fuel doors on both bed sides, about 6" back from the front of the bed. I'm told they are dealer installed.

Does anybody have information on this?

It's a shame someone had to chop a holes the bedsides... If they are just silver painted, I will have them painted to match the truck. I hate the look of them as it sits.

Those are dealer installed. My 74F350 SC had those PLUS the one with the filler in the wheel well... which I never thought was a very good idea! The filler cap always had road grime and mud all over it!

Saddle fuel tanks are not genuine Ford, and dealers would not install them because of Warranty issues.

The dealer may have sent the truck out to have them installed.

FoMoCo did not offer any fuel tank as a dealer installed kit...for any truck.
