Codes are in.

ok all, ive been having my engine light come on ever since i deleted my EGR due to lightning headers.

The engine light doesnt come on as soon as i start it, it takes a while to come one, if its at an idle and warm, not moving, the light may never come on.

Well i went out and bought a code reader, and i took some vids of what i got for codes.

One code was 33 (I think) Which would be EGR valve not opening. So i dont know what to do about that.

And one was very weird. I took a video of that. But if you all can get what im typing then maby you can know.

Here is the first number of flashes
1 1 1 1 1 1

This is that funky one, the last amount of flashes
1 111 111 11 111 111 11

Wait wait... You bought a code reader without a screen? So it's just got a blinking light? Why not just use a paper clip!?! LOL!! I'm really not sure how to decipher the flashes...

Are you doing a key on engine off or key on engine running?

That #33 should be a continuous memory code or a engine running code. Either way, it is nothing to worry about. It's there for info only. A code #31 is the only EGR code that is a hard code that will effect driveability.

Could you record it all at once as opposed to having it in 2 parts?

The way you have it now I can't tell when the CM codes begin.

It looks like you have 23, 32, 33

32 and 33 are because of the EGR - info only, nothing to worry about.

23 is a TPS out of range code.

sorry eco, not with dialup it would take way to long to upload the video. Its all the same test, i just broke it up while there was that long gap inbetween.

I don't know if you have see this or not...

...but basically it says that code #33 (the code that is causing your CEL) is normal and is to be expected. This means that your computer is alert to the fact that your EGR is permanently closed. There is soe other good info in there too. Look at the EGR eliminator section and check out the PDF file that contains "installation manual".

The CM codes were probably intermittant faults that the computer saw. If no driveability issues, then there isn't much to do about them.

if it is 33, take the EGR off, shoot carb cleaner/brake cleaner on it and puch up on the bottom (has a spring ull know when it moves) until it breaks free. Then clean out the ridge of carbon.. once you do that, disconect the battery and step on the brake for about 20 seconds to discharge the system, you can turn the key to acc to make sure no lights or anything come on..

reconnect the battery (after reinstalling the EGR) and fire her up, good as new..

33 does not mean permanent.. i had the same code, just cleaned mine as skan advised me to do, worked like a charm,

kudos to skan on that one

and i have to ask WTF is that red thing on the front of ur Bronco?

Well, the literature that I have says that the 33 is for CM and Engine Running only, but you seem to have it as a hard fault. I don't have any answers as to why that would throw a check engine light. I suppose the worst case scenerio is that yes, you are stuck with a CEL.

Thanks for the info, but what with what i did, theres no need to clean the valve, saying its not there n e more. I have a block off plate with a eliminator.

The red thing is a pad, the pad is to protect the hood and grill from the flag that you need in order to drive around on the sand dunes.

Well its more reassuring that i know nothing is majority wrong and thats the reason for the check engine light. I know the truck pretty good and if something is wrong im sure i can tell the difference.

I have have all my emissions junk gone with no cel. The EGR is still on the truck and it opens and closes but the line has been plugged. All thats left of my emissions stuff is the air pump as my idle pulley for right now, the egr and the vac lines and vac switch. Maybe do it like mine to the comp thinks its there but just doesnt do squat.

Which line is plugged?

If you disable the EGR, you WANT a code 33 because the computer is basically telling you that the valve is always closed (a desired result) and the computer will no longer alter the timing and fuel injector pulse width as it does in EGR mode (the other desired result) . If the computer thinks the EGR is still functional yet it is not it will still advance the timing and adjust the fuel tables to coincide with the EGR that it thinks is flowing yet it is not...........thats bad.
