i bought a new master cylinder.. replaced it bled the system and it was good for untill a week.. now its got some clutch but when you press it down for a long time it looses pressure.. when you let it go let it a while.. 10 secs.. i have clutch back to shift.. but i cant hold it in other wise it wont have any clutch..

should i replace the slave cylinder??

a friend told me its still the master.. bleed it again.. and chek for leaks..

I've always replaced mast and slave at the same time... my logic has always been that dirty contaminated fluid and wear took one out so the other can't be much better....

Yeah...but it's hard to blame Jurgen for not wanting to drop the tranny to change the slave if he doesn't have to.

Wouldn't hurt none to bleed the thing again...I don't know how the MC is on those trucks, so I can't offer any advice on different ways to do it, but there may well be more than one method, and it might not hurt to try a couple of 'em.

exactly i dont wanna drop the tranny just yet..

this is how we bled it when we changed the master cyl..
we opened the bleeder pump pedal untill it started getting fluid from the bleeder.

then open bleeder, press the pedal to the floor, close the bleeder, pull the pedal back up, and repeat until you get fluid coming out of the bleeder. Then pressure bleed like you would the brakes -- pump the pedal a few times, hold it to the floor, open the bleeder, close the bleeder, lift the pedal back up and repeat.

Sounds to me like you may have a leak in the master cylinder.

but the master cylinder is new buddy. i just replaced it last week...

im gonna inspect all the lines see if i can find a leak... it doesnt loose fluid just pressure..

A stiff pressure plate can caus the master to go bad. That happend to my Wrangler. Changed the clutch, slave, and master, and had no more issues. Since your truck was sitting so long i wouldnt doubt that the pressure plate has gone bad and stiffened up. Id drop the trans and change the disk, pressure pate, slave, and return the master and get a new one. Bet you wont have and probs when ur done.

the best way to bleed those from past experiences... is to force bleed it backwards. yes i know its not the usual way but it works damn good. i had that same problem when i did my truck ANd a few trucks in the shop. granted i have the bleeder tool to do it though

Thats a really expensive clutch for ya. U didnt post up the hurst shifter, and the clutch kit should come with the throwout bearing for 315 bucks. Id look into a more resonable clutch kit with everything. My jeep kit was like 75 bucks and it was the disk, pressure plate, piolit bearing, and slave(wranger throwout is built into slave)

smilieIagree Also jack the back of the truck up as high as you can get it, then bleed, also you don't want to rapid pump the pedal, crack the bleeder and slowly push the pedal down, all the pumping just causes the air to move around in the system and not get pushed out.

315 is a little spendy, but my last one was 220 ish i believe....

"aftermarket" slaves dont last as long as true motorcraft ones do...

I put in a "aftermarket" slave and it lasted barely a year, the one before that came straight from ford and it lasted almost 5....

Glad you got it going. When I did my motor swap slave cylinder was good. as soon as I cranked it up and went to back out of the shop the slave cylinder started leaking. I swaped from a 302 to a 351w.
