You all have no idea how "rejuvinated" I feel, to be able to save this old truck I really love!!! All of you are helping me, and again, you all have no idea (or maybe you do) how sentimental this truck is to me.
I will try it today Mil, and if nothing comes out, meaning no gas pressure, then does that mean the pump is not working, or working intermitantly?
Then maybe it is over heating, and my gas is ok? I am getting educated here, and again, it thrills me to know that this truck can be back on the road!!!
I'll take a photo of Bets today, and put it on here, don't laugh, it's got lots of rust!!
to Ridgerunner, I"ve been using the rear tank for the past few years, when the front fuel pump quit. I"m wondering if I should just get a new front fuel pump, since the front tank is larger? I don't need both tanks, so not sure if that makes a difference.
Cobra, I don't know what coil you mean, shortbed and bil, and Mil, I don't know where the fule pump for the rear tank is, if it's warm, is that bad?
again, to feel like I"m going to drive Betsy again, feel great!!
will come back later to day to post what happens with the valve core test

How many Gallons is the front and rear tank? Mine are the same 19 Gallons each but there are smaller gas tanks and there is 2 different ones . One Steel or Plastic gas tank.

If you need to clean the inside of the tanks check with your local radiator shop they can boil them out with chemicals,They can tell you if your tank is too far gone.

New tanks are not that expensive. You can order a lot of good parts through Dennis Carpenters, National Parts Depot, and a few others along with ebay. Here are some links that you can get free catalogs from. Click on the links and it will take you there. You can restore your truck back to new if you shop around.

oh, I don't know how many gallons are in each. I do know that the front is larger, and I have not used that for about three years. The rear tank, my understanding, is or supposed to be backup to the larger one.
sorry, I"m clueless
I m thinking I shoudl repair the front one, the fuel pump went out in that years ago.and just let the rear one now go.
wow, so much information,
much appreciated all of you!
