Cab Lights ?

Posted this in an update on another thread. Might have been Missed.
I have no power to the cablights on my 74 F 350. Is there a seperate circuit for these off the head light switch? The reason I ask is the rest of my marker lights work. So, before I pull out the headliner and trace back I am wondering if a switch replacement would most likley fix it.

Thanks Mil1ion,
I guess the 15a404 either plugs into the main harness or taps onto the light switch. I should probably start under the dash. I fear the head liner is brittle with age and may crack if I try to pull it down.

The Roof lights connector with a bullet connector to a stray wire from the headlight switch
I am pretty sure it is Black/blue stripe

traced it to nowhere,

Well I got to work on the truck on Sunday. Pulled the head liner and the Gauge cluster. traced the cab harness down to the bullet connecter you mentioned. I jumpered the connector and the cab lights work. But not on the switch. So I followed the wire through the fire wall and it extends about 8" to another female bullet connector (empty). There is nothing near even close to plugging up to this. Also comming through the firewall at this point is a #10 red wire that is constantly hot. But connnects to nothing. Am I possibly missing a subharness or something. I bought a haneys book but it has no cab light circuit at all. going to re-look at the one mil1ion put up and see if it is there. on my schematic all marker light circuit go back to the h/l switch. Also have a relay screwwed under the dash near the steering column that click on with the marker light circuit but when you disconect it it does not seem to be operating anything. what I mean is that nothing changes the lights still work the same. any guess what it is for?

re-read your diagram and found the 53 blk/bl. do you have the next page?

it connects to a loose single wire in the headlight switch connector
That wire has gone too far North :)

The headlight switch has to be in least the running light position for the lights to come on

10-4 I understand. Currently the black wire comes down the A-pillar and runs past the switch to a duplex bullet connector. then exits the fire wall. From there i have nothing. And can find nothing that will even remotly come close to pluging in at either location. The duplex does have a vacant female receptical though.

Simple fix would be to tap into the brown wire off the switch directly to the wire that runs up the A-pillar. But then I would not be me.

Try another colour wire

I was going by memory

It could be a single brown wire

I can take a pic of a 75 harness I have in the garage if need be

My cab lights connected to a brown wire that was back by the switch.

Got it, Thanks Mil1ion!

well I got it. Turns out the reason it wasn't right is some one crossed it up. The first two pics are how I found it. The third one is after I made the correction. the fourth is the lights burnin. The fifth is a relay mounted up under the dash that clicks when you pull out the switch. but I don't know what it does. it makes no difference in light function if it is plugged in or not. Thanks also to 73f100shortbed for the correct wire color.

Good to see you got it working again. I wonder what that relay is. I never noticed anything like that on my truck and there is no click when I turn my lights on.

Thanks again short bed.

The below pic is of the two wires that I spoke of that exit the fire wall. The black wire is now energized with the cab light circuit. The red is hot constantly no matter key switch or h/l switch position, any guesses? , my thought is factory supplied tap for a constant hot and an aux lighting circuit. Goin to bed now thanks again to all!!!!!!
