I was searching summit for a torque converter for a trans I'll be throwing in my Bronco.

http://www.summitracing.com/search/...-type/c-6/torque-converter-usage/truck-towing

I was under the impression that a C6 was a C6 was a C6, with the exception of 2wd and 4wd tannies. Summit gives the option of a couple different bolt circle diameters as well as a couple different crank pilot diameters. What don't I know that I should???

And I was looking at the hughes fuel miser tc...not because I care about mpgs...but because it fit my price range. Then I realized it said 'up to' a 25% increase...snake oil???

Some of it is by application , essentially race vs stock. Higher stall converters can have smaller bolt circles, so depending on what flexplate you run, the bolt circle diameter can be changed. I don't think they are the same bolt circle for different motors though either. That would be a good one to call them and ask the questions, it is their job to know the details like that.

The snout on the converter is different between FE engines and everything else. FE being larger. As for converter bolt pattern itself, I have seen 10" converters with mounting bolt tabs added by the manufacturer to bolt to the factory fly wheel pattern.

There is also the requisite bellhousing patterns, long and short shaft 4x4 trannies, and linkage differences.
