Welcome to FTF - car fires can happen for many reasons though .... remember the "pinto" case controversy from the 70s

The Pinto thing was ambiguous at best...nothing was proven and as far as I remember, they were no better or worse than others...it got blown out of proportion.

There is that much out there about the Pinto fuel tank issue that comes down on one side of the equation or the other thats it really hard to know just how much of a problem it was.... i just mentioned it as i wanted to point out that car fires aren't manufacturer specific. I get a kick out of the video though especially the guy's accent.
There was an interesting article i read in Popular mechanics about it so i just dug out the link for it and reread it - it is definitely slanted towards blaming the manufacturer and allows no rebuttal from the company at all which is unfair and not something i would expect from PM.

True enough Mark....the Jeeps that flipped when they were turned at high speeds etc.
