A friend of mine that lives in Ohio was talking about getting a re-tread that has walnut shells embedded in the tread for ice. Not for sure if that would be an option or if he is yankin my chain?????

Never known anybody who actually used 'em, though...

There's some places studded tires are illegal, and then there's people like me who really don't like them even though they're legal, due to the noise and poor wet-pavement performance.

we get sawdust tread tires for winter they are sawdust or walnut made in the the retread they work fairly good not as good as studs but not bad.
