Brother picked up an F350 (56k warning)

So my brother has been wanting to do a D60 swap for a while. He's found several cheap F350s on craigslist, finally found one and the guy committed to the buy. At $800 my brother STOLE this truck. It's a 93 F350 single cab long bed 7.3L IDI turbo 4x4. The outside is mostly pretty good (there's some good dents on the other side) and the engine SUPPOSEDLY runs (but smokes), cept theres no batteries so we haven't tried starting it. It's also got a 4" lift and included that LEER camper shell. All in all, a pretty good deal. He's going to part the rest and try to turn a profit after the D60 swap. The truck would ALMOST be worth fixing up and using/selling except that the interior is DESTORYED. Apparently there were some animals living in it for a while so there's shredded garbage EVERYWHERE and it wreaks of animal feces. With a potentially non-running motor, and a DESTROYED interior he's just going to part it. PICS PICS PICS!

Got it all unloaded at my brother's friend's house. Went pretty smoothly until one of the spare tires bounced off the tailgate and jammed my left pinky finger. I think it's broken. It's swollen up twice normal size and I can't move it at all. Other than that, went pretty good.

great find. as for the finger..normally a break doesn't swell like a tissue injury.

If you do decide to part it out I'd like a chance at that front clip (would make a great update to the bronco).

Also if that IDI isn't worth fixing that turbo and manifolds would be of interest

(don't mean to sound pushy)...

Hahah Tony the bumper has a pretty big dent that you can't see in the picture. I was WAY ahead of you, eye balling that bumper. Plus it DOES frown on the other side.

It's a ZF 5-speed. Dont get your hopes up, the 7.3L IDI has it's own bellhousing pattern and I'm not about to spend the time and money changing the bellhousing and input shaft crap to make it fit my small block. Really wish this truck were a small block :(

wow that trucks under-frame looks great. People who saw your brother towing practically his own truck must have made a good Redneck moment in their minds lmao

Isn't the diesel ZF a close-ratio, and the gasser a wide-ratio box, too?

try starting that beast.. and test it..

and IDI diesel is not common.. they must have put an aftermarket turbo on it..

Nah the turbo is stock. They offered the turbo an option on the very late model 7.3L IDIs.. I believe only in like the last 1-2 years of production.

Not sure about the gear ratio's Ian... I thought all the ZF-5's were the same...
