Brake system ?

Well today the brakes failed!...:headbang:

A perfectly running truck with out brakes!....smiliecrybaby

Got in the truck this morning to start the day ,an absolutely had nothing.
Peddle went all the way to the floor.I checked fluid ,its full.

My ? is ,how can I tell if the booster is bad?
The rod that goes to the peddle is sticking & jammy.
The booster is original & rusty at both ends , peddle rod an the
little rod that goes to resivoir.

It also had a swooshy swooshy sound when I bang at the peddle....

The brake master cylinder would shows signs of weeping along the face of the brake booster when the internal seal starts to fail. The brake fluid reservoir would also be reading low. The booster itself is vacuum feed. There is a grommet that breaks down and causes a vacuum leak. It would be very noticeable. The is also the adjustable rod from the brake pedal to the booster. Usually if this is not adjusted correctly you will hear a grinding like sound. Have you checked the brake slave cylinders? Can you pump the brakes to get pressure, but then the brake pedal slowly fades to the floor?

Yes ,that is what I'm seeing ,its wet around where the master cylinder
is bolted to the booster.
I took it off an it appears to be wet & rust particles inside.
Also the booster rod that attaches to the peddle has a slight catch ,but
could be due to wear,
I'm replacing the whole unit!
Thnx for your input ,it was very helpful an you pretty much described
what happened.
Brake slaves are good...:)

See now you can justify getting one of these babies!
