Well I got my tires on . No pics till I get salt off it.

I had steel wheels with winter treads all winter . Dug out the stock alum rims . They looked fine for 14 year old rims. .

Had the same tires on from when I bought truck down south. (3 +years ) . The shop I take to always puts weights on inside . Now I got 3"-4" Corrosion marks where weight were from before. Ow well I'll get em shell blasted to remove clear coat and clean them next fall when I take them off. Then just polish them .

I thought of just scuffing the flat area on out side were weight mount and paint to match truck but think it would look red neck . Not a bad thing

Its what I get for not get weights put on inside . smilieFordlogo

Yup! Part of the reason I like the faux bead locks on my wheels-- the tire place never even tries the weights on the outside since there's nowhere to stick 'em :) Cept up their a... nevermind :D

I'll stick with stick-on weights.

Yeah...those weights can be a biatch to rims. Until recently I used stick on...but on the bronco, there are clearance issues with the caliper. I think next time around...dynamic balancing.

I tried the stick ons before. And lost them several times. I'd have to bring em in myself as the local shops wont use them . The salt loosens them up quickly in winter.

It took 3 bucket of soapy water to get all salt /slime off truck . Now 2 weekends of getting all side trim clean .

Yeah...you're actually the one that opened me up to the bb/pellet world. Looking forward to seeing pics...kinda anxious seeing what it was, I figure you changed everything but the tires.

Airsoft pellets? Do they really have enough weight?!

From what I've read, they do once you get up to speed (15-20 mph). They rely on centrifugal force.

But the amount of centrifugal force depends on how heavy the beads are... Hence why tire shops don't use plastic wheel weights.

I've heard of people using metal beads/BB's but never plastic ones...

And, of course, at low speeds you won't notice if the thing is out of balance or not. Question becomes...is there an in-between speed range, where you WILL feel a vibration.

My factory aluminum rims are all torn up from the weights, too.

I really dunno...but that may be the determining factor on how many pellets are used. I've read alot of places are going over to the plastic air soft type pellets so there is no more rust or corrosion to worry about.

weigh more at speed?.. no because they spin WITH the wheel... pretty sure thats how it works..

the weights actually weigh what they say they do.. 1.75oz is literally 1.75 oz... the stick on weights are desiged for wheels that DO NOT have on outter lip desgined for TC or MC weights...

lil bit of physics here and a cool tid bit... centrifigal force actually DOESNT exist. What force is exibited is CENTRIPITAL force.. kinda weird huh? and i kid you not.. learned all that fun stuff my juinior year.. so a centrifigal clutch is actually a centripital clutch

Yeah...I knew that little tid bit. I just figured everyone I talk to always argues because they've never heard it...and then they say look it up in a dictionary...and I'm automatically wrong. So unless I'm actually having a physics discussion...I just don't fight it.

I would like to try the bb's but how do you determine the amount of bb's to put in?

At least some good info came out of my mess.

While we're talkin' about this, a question.

I like the "finish" on the factory deer-hoof wheels on my Ranger. Machined aluminum, clear-coated. Looks good, stay clean and while damaged where the weights have been...they still look damn good for 12 New England winters.

Seems like getting aftermarket aluminum rims with a nice clearcoat like that is tough, though- lots of my friends run chrome just because the aluminum is too hard to keep clean.

So...why can't you (or, at least, can't my friends) find aftermarket rims with a finish/appearance similar to the factory Ford ones, easily.
