Yeah I have to agree revving a 300 the high is a little dangerous.

Got any damage on the oil pan? If the bottom was bent upward, it will have enough oil at low rpms, but higher it can tend to starve for oil. Was the new pump and pickup tube exact duplicates for the original?

Why would you want to rev a 4.9L that high? Mine sounds like it's about to explode at 2800.

It could be a bearing, my old 240 would get like that sometimes but it was worn out.
i was gonna say the same thing. i shift about 2200, max. don't think i've ever had mine that high

well so far i revved it to 4k with the stock oil pressure gauge being way down. No knocking or abnormal noises so im assuming it has good oil pressure but with either a faulty sensor, wiring, or gauge. I havent yet put a mechanical gauge on it to see exactly what my oil pressure is at 4k yet but i will hopefully sometime this week. As far as i know the pan looks great with no dings or dents. I will look at that closer this week as well.

Just look at it next week when you move out here :D

Wait did I miss something? Awesome.

I was thinking the same as the others. 4k RPM is way too high for a 300. Hell I know from my truck (same as yours, but shortbed) that I dont shift above 2k... thats way high revs.

no believe me it can handle 4k...i havent gone any higher then 4500rpms. thats my redline. i dont have much power around there though. its more for slamming gears and flying down the highway:rolleyes: haha. and this just started happening in december/january...way after the rebuild. i will buy a mechanical gauge this week and ill let you know my results.

as for the going to california part haha....ill be most likely moving from new hampshire to EITHER Florida or California this summer. i need a better job/people/scenery change. i need to go somewhere where there is a car culture....not like aorund here where people mostly look down on working on cars and hot rodding in general. as of now im really leaning towards Florida. i have a friend there whos going to try and hook me up when the time comes to find a job and move.

FWIW, my sending unit/wiring was flaky. i replaced the sending unit and it didn't fix anything. i bought a mechanical cheapo 3 gauge kit and have been using that.
