Ballast Resistor ?

I want to upgrade my stock factory coil on the '83 F250 with the 351W engine. Do I need or does it already have the ballast resistor in the factory wiring harness? I was thinking of going either Accel or MDS? What do you guys suggest? (It has the canister type coil)

It's built into a wire...looks like it is red w/green stripes....I can check a diagram tomorrow. I'm pretty sure that it runs from the ignition switch to the coil and I think the aftermarket coils will work.

I've been looking at the two brands and they both say they boost the volts to 43,000 delivering a stronger spark and making combustion more complete. Have you ever used the upgraded coil on any vehicles?

I have used the MSD blaster, and it has always worked well on the several trucks I have used it on.

You can gap your plugs a little wider with the hotter coil. Make sure to use a good 8 mm plug wire with the better coil.
