Back up light

I just bought a 78 f150. It's been changed from a column 3 speed to a 3 on the floor. It has no back up light. Has anyone hooked one up and how did they do it.

There should be a switch on the bottom of the shifting linkage that the reverse arm will press when engaged. Similar to the one pictured here

The factory switch would have been located in the engine compartment near the base of the steering column. It functioned similarly to where the reverse linkage would press it when engaged. If there's a switch on the bottom of your shifter, and the switch is still on your column with the harness wires still on it, just take those wires and extend or do whatever necessary to plug it into the switch on the floor shift linkage. This should restore the reverse light functionality.
