Are these factory gas tanks on my Camper Special?

It might be considered a dealer installed item in some locations, but the tanks are not genuine Ford.

Here in LA LA Land, these tanks were installed by the Fey Bumper Co.

omg!! i am looking to buy a truck exactly like this, color and all. i was trying to also find out about all those tanks. i thought they were factory though.surely they could be if i found the same truck,i mean, it's the same color to. i dont have any pics, cause i havent bought it yet

My 74 F350 SC had the same doors on each side AND another tank on the driver side with the filler neck in the wheel well! It had a valve switch for all three tanks on the floor of the truck between the door and the seat and a separate switch on the dash just for the guages. Wierd, but it all worked great! Being the "dummy" I was back then the first time I made a long distance trip I didn't realize the switch on the dash didn't also change tanks, so I ran out of gas and called for help. They arrived and showed me the tank valve switch. Boy did I feel stupid! This was 22 year ago and it was my first truck.. I've learned a lot since then! (and still DON'T know a lot! )

Am I suppose to have an indash switch somewhere for the original dual tank setup? Anyone have a picture of what the original switch looks like? I don't see any switch on my dash for this at all, only a selector switch on the floor of the truck by the driver door like dakonthemountain.

918eva - Did you buy that F100? Any pictures?

Litnrod - That tank does look very similar. It's amazing that people thought to do these sort of modifications back then.

My dash doesn't have that switch. Does that mean it didn't come with dual tanks originally? Mine is a 73 if that makes any difference.

My old SC was a 74...valve switch on the floor. Burt is a 77 and has dual tanks with the switch next to the heater controls also

My 1973 Camper Special has mechanical valve by driver's seat near the driver's door opening. The switch on the dash near the heater only changes which tank reading is displayed on the guage.
