Another new guy to the forums

Hi everyone, wanted to say hi. Been going through the forums a lot so I decided to join up and make my first post. I just recently acquired a '79 F250 for cheap. Honestly this is the first Ford I've ever owned, always was a Chevy man, but I was looking for a new ride and this was too cheap to pass up.

What I've been able to gather after doing a lot of research online and a lot of parts number searches I have an F250 which originally had a 400 CID and a long bed srw. What I have now is an F250 with a 351m, a frame that has been chopped, a flatbed added and dually adapters added to the 3.07 dana 61.

I didn't (and still don't) know a whole lot about Fords to know anything was amiss before buying it (like Ford didn't make F250 duallys until the 80s), but I thought it looked cool so I got it. Yeah it might need some work, but I'm happy to have something I can make my own and I'm surprisingly impressed with Ford and wondering why I never tried them earlier.

Anyway, that's basically it for now. First thing I'm going to do is go through the electrical system and fix some problems like turn signals and reverse lights not working, then move on to other areas (gas tank filling tube is exhaust pipe hose clamped to some tubing to the gas tank and leaks when filling up). But again it was too cheap to be perfect and I wouldn't have got a 79 if I wanted to keep my hands clean.

Thanks for reading and I appreciate all I've learned here so far.

Welcome to FTF!

There are lots of good people here with lots of info and there are a bunch of Ford manuals that have been posted as well for reference.
