Well the 302 motor I put in the 94 has about 155000 on the rebuild and is starting to smoke when cool. Oil pressure still good . runs great yet 1 1/2 quart between changes of oil . Not much worse than the 95 I had new.

Lots being scrapped here so just waiting to find one . May build another we'll see.

Found a 96 EB wrecked with 351 and 85000 miles . Hate to lose the MPG as I run the truck daily . Its the most plain EB I ever saw . No tach and floor shift 4x4

Good luck man. It's been my experience that the 351 doesn't hamper mpg's too awfully bad. It seems like the 302 just isn't enough to scoot around full sizes, so you always have your foot on the floor negating any mpg gains. Just my experience though.

I get 16 MPG most time on 302 .And it get down road 60 plus all time. I live in hilly area to say the least .

But them agian I only haul 400 or so pounds of tools in bed. And car dolly cars trucks once in while .

But I agree there is nothing better the cubic inches

If your just addin oil, and it smokes a bit, i wouldnt change the motor out till she blowes blue all the time or takes a crap on ya. In my area its easier to find a 5.0HO from a stang, rebuilt already, with less miles for a few hundred bucks. I did 1 in the bronk. Picked it up for 300 bucks with 50K on it. Cant beat that. I get about 12mpg with the bronk beatin the junk outta it. I have the stock size tires on it now as the 33's were shaking too much at higher speeds. Ill see what my mileage is next time I fill up. Yea just did long tubes on it so I am beating it a bit more now caus it sounds awsome. Lol.

Burnin' oil and blowing a little smoke? Sounds like bad rings, why not just tear it down if it's a good runner?

351 man... No reason not to. Good luck on the hunt Larry!

Ryan

I use 25 - 35 gallons week on average . I get 16 ish MPG the 4 MPG lose would hurt if gas goes back up . I've owned 351 trucks unless towing everyday I Decided I don't need 1.

But the red neck in me say it would be fun YelloThumbUp

Down time Skan . I probably will find a lower miles one and go through it . My block has 250000+ plus I put on it and it was rebuilt 2x.

Just want something ready .So can install in a day . This one should last another 30000. Funny usually #8 ussually goes but this one is clean .

If I get a 351 or 94 newer 302 i'll have to repin the injector harness .

Then again I might find a SD to fill in for that time

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Dont even say that . If I found a PS Crew with solid cab and short bed I'd get it in a minute . Upkeep is more but with as long as they last who cares . I had a 96 should have kept it .

How come you will have to repin? The bronk had a 302 with the non ho firing order, and with the HO motor all I had to change was the firing order, the injectors fire in banks, left bank right bank, so it doesnt matter lol.

Sequential injection my good man .The trucks a maf equipped ride. I didn't realize Ford changed Firing order till I put motor out of 92 in a 94 and read rad support 94 had same fire order as 351. No big deal tho . I wrote down what wires were what if I needed them .

But I have long time to get one . Next spring there will be whole new batch of rust retirees here.

I'll just take Skans ecu if I decide to go 351 ,when he goes manual

Lovin my powerstroke and aint lookin back. The 351 was a great motor but being able to pull as much as i can, and getting 16 17 mpg with 35's to me is awesome! I couldnt pull 15 mpg with a tail wind in the bronco lol
