first of all its a 1996 Explorer engine going into an 1989 F150!

well many of you guys may know the front timing cover changed after 1994 and uses different waterpumps and is shorter then one of an F150 belt system

so we made an 2" spacer and put it on there and make it work with the F150 belt system

and this is what happend at the first drive 4000 rpms and CRACK! custom water sprinkler system in the engine bay :icon_no:

now there is 2 options A and B

option A (easy one)

i can get an 1990 Mustang 5.0 belt system and they are much shorter but i still gotta use the explorer waterpump ( a new one of course ) and it mayyy work.. (no spacers this time) becuase the main difference is that the F150's belt system sticks out farther then the ones from mustangs.. and i have the original Eplorer crank pully also that i can use

OPTION B

change the wholeeee timing cover from an 5.0 earlier than a 1994 and keep using the F150 belt system with a F150 waterpump

this should give you an idea what im talking about

Seems like either option should work. Go whichever route is gonna save you more money but definitely don't use another spacer... Seems that the torque on that long pulley arm was what did you in-- it was too long.

I paid 7 bucks for my waterpump from my parts store, that was my parts stores price, what they pay, yea they make no money on me. Yea that spacer put too much stress on the housing. I work from 7:30am-5 as a mechanic, then come home, work on my stuff from 6ish to 11-12 at night, every day, 7 days a week. With 5 cars there is too much to do.
