So my dad decided that he needed to cook his oil burner; to the point of the gauge was pegged and the light was on (didn't go out for about 45min after the truck stopped), pretty sure it boiled some oil out, toasted a few seals (loading it on the trailer, at an incline, it left an oil trail up the deck). Where is a good place to pick up a master rebuild kit, and are there any areas that were lacking from the factory that can be worked over while rebuilding?

oooo good question.

I think i saw some rebuild kits on ebay. But im sure you would still need to get the cylinders checked out, pistons, heads redone, and all that good stuff. Probably cheaper and easier to get a new longblock.. After all the machining it might even out the cost? But idk.

Make sure he changes the oil pan while its out. Even a 50 dollar new turbo wheel is something i would do because they get dusted, rusted, and bent easily
