96 Ford Bronco 5.8 liter problems

Hi I recently was given a 96 Bronco with the 5.8 by my grandparents up in washington because they are getting to old for the amount of vehicles they have. It had been sitting for many months and needed to be jumped but ran fine after that for the trip back down to CA, but needed a jump in oroville when we stopped for gas. Made it to my bumpy dirt road, and since grandpa just had a bunjee on the battery it hoped up and blew up when it arched on the hood. Bought and installed a new battery and it ran just fine for about a day when I came up that same bumpy road and it died again. This time NONE of the dashlights come on when turned to the run position, digital odometer does come on and the engine will crank but no start. Even with the key on I can hook up the OBD2 scanner but there seems to be no power going to the connector to even try and pull a code. (Seems to be a bad ECM?)
Checked the inertia switch(which is fine) because I dont hear the fuel pump kick on either. Checked all the relays and fuses twice and cleaned up all the grounds I could find under the hood and front half of the chassis. Went to pick n pull to snag a ecm, found a year older bronco with a 5.8 but when I got it home I realized my 96 ecm has 4 rows of prongs while the 95 has just 3 rows of thicker prongs... Anybody know about the different computers used with this engine? Anybody live in the northern CA area with one I can borrow to see if thats my problem? Any advice on what I could check would be greatly appreciated, cuz right now im stuck thinkin the ECM isnt putting out a signal for the dashlights and fuel pump.
Thanks

As you discovered, the ECM from your 96, which is OBD II, has 104 pins, while the 95 has 60. I think you will be fine getting an ECM from any 96 F-150/Bronco with the 5.0/5.8 engine, provided the 5.0 truck has an E4OD trans.

Make sure the fuseble links at the starter relay on the fender didn`t get hurt.

ECM has nothing to do with power supply. The connections at the battery or a fusible/ground are more likely to be your problem. many of the lights are also not controlled by the computer.
