95 f150 4x4 auto trans help please

Hello i just got a 95 f150 4x4 with an over drive trans. it seems like it is not fully engaugeing in 1 or 2. my dad has had a 94 since it was new and it is all original with 336.000 miles so i think it may be something simple. any info would be great

For a starting point, I would go to O'Reilly's and get the code pulled from the computer. See if it has a slipping clutch code or something.

Our '95 was doing something similiar. Turned out to be a throttle position sensor, but the check engine light was on. Pulling codes found the problem.

Nah, It's not so bad once you learn it. Always remember, just because the check engine light (CEL) isn't on, doesn't mean there aren't codes stored.

why would you check pressures? and what pressures would you check?
Line pressures. Its how much hydraulic pressure is generated by the pump in each gear. You can pinpoint troubles doing that. The tap(s) are usually on the driver front of the trans.

i finally drove the truck today for about 60 miles. it seems like it is starting out in 2nd or 3rd and the overdrive is not working either. the light on the shifter for the od was flashing i took it to advance auto parts. and they could not check the codes cause they only have an obd2 scanner. so there is an o ryles a little further down the road so im gona check them out on monday does any body nkow how to checkthem with a paper clip. i have pulled codes on a chevy but not a ford

When electronic trans' get an electronic issue, they default to 2nd gear only. Just as a suggestion, disconnect your trans electronic connector and inspect for water intrusion, or pin pushout.

thanks foor the info black snap on im going out side to check it now. btw here are the codes i think i got reading that light is hard to see

thanks rattle can for the link for the codes
when i pulled the connectors out i had trans oil in the conector on the right side of the trans. after putting it back together i have now lost reverse.
so i am all flustered now. i wish it was a manual 4 speed

i fiddled with the truck some more today. it seems like it is going in reverse but not all the way. and also when i put it in neutral and press the gas the truck will move like it is in drive.

If you go to the website that shows you how to do the selftest, they also have a listing of 2 and 3 digit codes. Judging by what I read, you either have a wiring problem or pcm issue.

i was thinking it may be the wire harnes because i lost reverse just by un pluging it so im going to pops pick a part and get one. Im gonna go out early this morning to collect some scrap metal and card board to sell. Im broke as hell

Yeah i sell it all the time. The paper mill in richmond buys it. News paper also magazines its all worth time to recycle i sell cans steel all sorts of paper junk steel and any thing i find that is worth money i found a 14 k gold ring i found in a old house trailer i dismantled. Yes i do that too i haul off or dismantle old house trailers
