Ok someone enlighten me!!!

I took Apart a 93 F150 to get front diff out last week end . Push out retainers for calibers and remove .10 min tops. I could swap pads in same time if wanted.

Now I Checked out the 94 F150 to get all parts for next week. You got caliber held on by 2 bolts (broke one 30 minute removal) And had to order it. Those pads with large clips . Sure they keep rattle down. And pads cost more.

But over all its not a better mouse trap in my book.Old worked for 14 years and how many millions rides. End of rant.

I'd like you guys/gals input.

The caliper bolts shouldn't break. I've never had that happen to me, and I've changed a LOT of brakes.

The rubber pin setup was pretty dated. Yeah, it worked, but so did points ignition, and we stopped using that a long time ago. :)

Caliper slide pins are more modern and I think this might be a case of Ford trying to keep up with the neighbors.

I know They just updated stuff I was just ranting. The old is quicker .

As for broken I work in a relatives garage helping do inspections and in last 20 years and couple 1000 brake jobs. I have seen the bolts on them break, striped ,and in some cases not there at all.And thats before we start working . Mark it up to PA rust.

Thanks for Reply Andy

It must be the rust. I worked in a brake shop in Vegas for a while and the only time I ever saw anything like that was on a dodge dakota when another shop cross-threaded the caliper bolt and basically destroyed the knuckle in their misguided attempt to fix it.

We would routinely have cars come with 20+ years old with zero rust. Once I saw a 1980 Bronco with ZERO rust. Even the bottom of the tailgate was pristine.

Ford shouldn't bother trying to keep up with the neighbors...they've surpassed them for over 30 years....Must be doin somethin right.I've had em strip out before but not break...and I'm in Florida

Lost and I will work on a more recent pic and send it to you to post. ;)
Lol, is your internet really THAT slow? I mean.. I remember having dialup and yeah it was slow, but to upload a small picture like the one I posted earlier would not take THAT long. It would take much less time than driving to the post office.

Dialup speed is around 7 kilobytes per second transfer speeds. The picture I uploaded of you guys is 284 kilobytes; and 284/7 = 40 (give or take a couple decimal places). So it should only take you about 40 seconds to a minute to upload a picture like that to photobucket or even to your gallery on FTF... ;)

I know that Mike (95bronk) is on dialup too and he uploads plenty of pictures, and videos too!! The video's take QUITE a long time for him to upload but he still manages it.

Yep its that slow. I am lucky to connect at 14 KPBS most days . When it sunny I can get up to 32. But I can't afford SAt system internet . And No cable. So its wait for them to up grade lines.

It took almost 5 minutes to upload the sig pic

I live on a main road they ran lines up back road go figure.

But we'll getsome fresh pics out. Next good day.

Newer technology does not necessarily work better or last longer. My truck is 50+ years old and is much easier to work on than my newer one. The parts are easy to get and the general stuff is cheap. I bet the explorer won't be around and still on the road in another 40 something years.

Nothing wrong with points and carbs. They work fine. In the 3 points vehicles I have owned...I have never had to replace a set. I have driven the 56 close to 2 1/2 years now with the same set in it that came in it. Dad rebuilt my carb a little over 2 years ago and I have not touched it since.

I am a firm believer that newer does not always mean better.

No dsl in my area. I called several providers and got the basic its a waist of time to switch because it wont be faster.

I pay $11.90 now .
