Ill have to argue with the on road drivin bit. They eat the front tires on the outside edge if they dont get roatated often. They also need to get aligned if ya hit too many potholes. Even washboard roads will do it if your on em often enough.
I will agree that alignment is a real b!tch on these TTB's. But I've never experience bad tire wear with my TTB... Then again I also rotate my tires every 5k miles.

Well I ordered a Detroit locker for a Dana 50. I hope it fits the axle under the front of that truck. Ordered one for a Dana 60 for the rear axle.
Yes your front axle is a Dana 50, but your rear is not a Dana 60-- it is a Sterling 10.25"; completely different beast.

No ya wont notice it with how often ya rotate em but let it go for say 15 thousand and youd notice it. It can be worse or better dependin on how good its been aligned.

What kinda drivin do ya do that youd need both axles locked?

Remote logging roads well out of cell phone range. It's a really bad idea to have a disabled/stuck truck in meth lab country. The tweekers/cooks get crazy paranoid. I'm not kidding.

Thanks for the tip. I'll send the 60 back and get a Sterling. Although my driveline guy is used to me bringing him the wrong lockers to install. He'll be surprised this time.

Id check that rear end and make sure it is a sterling for sure. Somebody coulda swapped in a 60 or anything that they wanted if they were talented enough with a torch and welder. It is better to be safe than sorry ive been there and done that with the 72. Hikin out of a canyon aint too fun in the dark.

That's how I look at it. Take a look at Google Maps sometime. East of Deary, out past Bovill. North to Princeton and beyond. Nothing out there but deep woods and mountains.

There's quite a few burned out camp trailers out there. Remnants of former meth labs. Last year a tweeked out cook put 15 rounds into the side of a Ramcharger. The guy was just out fourwheeling. The cops won't go back there with less than 10 guys.

Then you have all the anti-government types, survivalists living off the land, white supremacists, and general whackos out there.

Not a place you want to be stranded. I make sure I have plenty of fuel, a capable truck, rifle, pistol, and 200 rounds before I venture back there.

I haven't had any problems personally. I stick to the more well traveled trails and don't go off on any single tracks alone. For those kind of trips we go in a group.

Don't talk to anybody I don't know. See a stuck truck that I don't recognize I just keep on going. Not worth the potential hassle.

When I'm cutting deadfall I shut off the saw periodically and take a look around.

Some common sense and preparation goes a long way.
